With increasing concern for hazardous environments since the 1990's, Electrochlorination has rapidly grown in favour, as it is virtually completely safe in comparison with most alternate disinfection systems.
With the advent of reliable electrode systems and modern control systems, payback times have reduced and long term operating and maintenance costs have allowed Electrochlorinators to be very competitive from a "whole of life" perspective.
nATURAL OR ADDED SALINITY IN THE WATER
Virtually all water has some natural salinity and in many cases this salinity is sufficient (or can be increased) to allow direct electrolysis of the water to provide the required disinfection level. This system is well suited to swimming pools, waste water and disinfection processes where the water has a reasonable natural salinity level.
